Will It Wake You?

We've all been told, "Test your fire alarms, make sure the battery works, and your unit is loud."  But what we aren't asked is "Does your fire alarm wake you?"  Which is probably one of the questions that should be included. 

Now I know what most of you are thinking.  MY FIRE ALARM COULD WAKE A BEAR!  But the real question is can it?  In the following video you will learn that many people don't wake from their fire alarms.  Take a look at the research and testing they did. 

So just for testing purposes maybe you should wait till everyone is asleep tonight and then test your alarms.  See if they wake people.  Give them 3 mins.  If the family wakes up and acts appropriately then you have less to worry about.  If they don't, explore other options with louder alarms, or MORE alarms.  It's one thing for your alarm to work, it's another thing for it to wake you in the night.
